CPP bespoke manufacturing and development from design through production

CPP has been developing and manufacturing plastic injection-moulded components since 1977. Over the decades our focus has increasingly centred on polymer industrial hose couplings, IBC fittings and specialist adaptors for the safe loading, transfer and off-loading of liquids.

Standard fittings solve most connection problems. Sometimes, however, the application needs something different. It may be a new thread combination, an adaptation of an existing fitting, a security or safety requirement, or a completely new component. That is where CPP's bespoke manufacturing and development capability comes in.

From an idea to a production component

Our approach is practical: understand the connection and application first, then determine whether the best solution is to adapt an existing CPP component, use modular tooling, or develop a new moulded part.

Design & development

Development starts with the customer's requirements. We look at the mating connection, dimensions, operating environment, material requirements and expected quantities. Where possible we build on proven CPP designs rather than unnecessarily starting again from a blank sheet.

This can include specialist IBC adaptors, hose coupling variations, alternative thread combinations and components intended for a particular customer's equipment or supply chain.

Modular manufacturing

Our experience in injection moulding and modular tooling can make relatively specialised components commercially practical. By using established design principles and, where appropriate, existing components or tooling concepts, development can be considerably more straightforward than commissioning an entirely unrelated moulded product.

Many new CPP items have started with an initial production requirement of around 500 pieces or more. Smaller quantities can be considered, although tooling, setup and development costs can make very small moulded batches disproportionately expensive.

Three ways we can approach a project

Exclusive

An item developed specifically for one customer and not offered to the general market. This may be appropriate where security, safety, a specialist supply chain or a patented assembly is involved. Tooling arrangements depend on the project, quantities and degree of exclusivity required.

Market

An adaptation or variation of an existing product that also has wider market potential. The originating customer may provide the initial production requirement, after which the component can become a stocked CPP product available for repeat supply.

Bespoke

A component outside our normal standard coupling and adaptor ranges but suited to similar manufacturing methods, sizes and polymer materials. These projects are considered individually against the application and expected production volume.

Materials and manufacturing method matter

Injection moulding is not automatically the right manufacturing process for every enquiry. Specialist polymers such as PTFE and PVDF can require different tooling, processing equipment and economics. For lower quantities, machining or fabrication may therefore be more appropriate than creating an injection-moulded component.

Have a connection problem?

If you have an IBC, drum, hose or fluid-transfer connection that cannot be solved with a standard fitting, send us the connection details, dimensions, photographs where possible, application information and an indication of the quantity required. Our team can then assess whether an existing CPP product, a modified fitting or a bespoke development is the most appropriate route.
